Jake Couturiaux
2nd Year PhD Student in Medieval Studies
Jake Couturiaux is a PhD student in the Medieval Studies program. He is interested in travel writing, epistolaries, dream visions, and genres that stage encounters between cultures. He works with medieval orientalism, multilingualism, concepts of authorship, sociocultural exchange, and pre-and post-colonial theories. His work centers on Middle English and Mediterranean literature.
Jake is an advocate of redefining the Middle Ages as a global network and seeks to draw out connections between literary traditions and historical moments across medieval geographies.
